Two historical preservation societies in Arkansas are co-sponsoring an art contest for designs to be used on new promotional products and in other media, according a report published Saturday.
The Faulkner County Historical Society and the Old Conway Preservation Society will allow local students to submit free hand drawings of Faulkner County buildings built before 1959 between now and April 19, the Log Cabin Democrat reported. The societies will choose two winners, one from kindergarten through sixth grade, and another from grades seven through 12.
The societies will reserve the right to use the drawings on promotional products, as well as in advertising, publicities and editorials.
Contest organizers said the contest is designed to instill respect for Faulkner County heritage, and to expose students to the elements of architecture.
Each year thousands of nonprofit groups use promotional products to help raise awareness and funds. Promotional products such as custom calendars, promotional pencils and promotional pens can be an excellent way to build connections with members of the public, and to encourage future support and donations.
