Business conference to promote effective leadership

Posted: 6/26/2012
By: Lindsey Graham
Business leaders are expected to meet in Philadelphia from October 8-9 to hear Daniel Goleman, world-renowned leadership expert, speak about the keys to providing top-notch leadership in a business.

Goleman is planning to discuss the methods of building a successful leadership model, delivering the keynote address and workshops on emotional intelligence.

The Future of Talent Management: Aligning Culture and Leadership conference will be hosted by Caliper Corporation, which is a worldwide human capital management assessment and development company located in Princeton, New Jersey.

"I'm pleased to be part of a conference focused on a critical component of productive workplaces: aligning culture and leadership," said Daniel Goleman. "As teams are expected to accomplish more with less, leaders must master the art of persuading and inspiring people to work toward a common goal. Emotional intelligence in leadership can help executives foster a culture that encourages and supports innovation, hard work and company loyalty."

The business conference will help attendees pinpoint their weaknesses and strengths in leadership, allowing them to bring their learned lessons back to their own business, which could benefit the employees as well as the company.

A number of activities and sessions are planned that will examine the greatest challenges businesses face in today's economy in addition to including best practices and insights into managing intergenerational teams and training up and coming leaders to also be effective leaders.

"We are excited to be bringing together business leaders from around the world for our conference in Philadelphia," said Patrick Sweeney, Caliper's president. "The conference gives executives an ideal forum for discussing the strategies that all companies need to align visionary leadership with corporate culture. And our keynote speaker, Daniel Goleman, will draw from his scientific research on leadership for his workshop about what leaders need to become truly effective at guiding and leading an organization."

Sweeney added that the conference will provide an excellent opportunity for decision makers to improve their skills to be at the top of their game.

According to John Ryan, a leadership expert who was quoted in Forbes, clear and objective judgment is a key element of leadership. How leaders respond to moments when they have to make sound and effective decisions in business promotions and other areas of the company become their legacy and can make or break a tenure in leadership.
