Community activists in Illinois used gift bags full of promotional products to help promote safe driving this New Year's Eve, according to a recent article.
Campaign organizers in Galesburg, Illinois gave away 300 gift packets filled with combs, key chains and other promotional products at local bars and restaurants to promote safe driving throughout the night, the Galesburg Register-Mail reported. This year's efforts came as part of a series of campaigns that has been running since 1994 under the direction of insurance agent Dennis Twitty and electronics distributor Guy Vitale.
"It's all distributed to establishments that have New Year's events. I think there are 26 on our list this year," Twitty told the newspaper.
In addition to the gift bags, campaign organizers also offered free cab rides home to patrons at local restaurants and bars. Patrons did not have to be drunk to take advantage the cab rides, the article noted.
Promotional products often make up an essential component of nonprofit campaigns and charity events. Items such as logo pens and personalized calendars can be practical gifts for a wide range of recipients, and serve as visible reminders or a group or cause.
