According to Hubspot, 78 percent of business people check their email via a mobile device - a medium which many advertisers are taking advantage of.
Mobile media has rendered billboards and newspaper ads useless, TechFlash reports, and businesses are preferring reaching out to their market via mobile devices.
Borrell Associates conducted a study that investigated numerous facets of mobile marketing. According to the study, businesses small to large will spend more than $800 million on mobile advertisements and $400 million on mobile promotions, which include coupons and competitions. A total of $1.2 billion to be spent on mobile marketing, and Borrell suggests this figure will grow over the years.
Based on Borrell's projections, by 2016, mobile marketing expenses may surpass $18 billion, while mobile promotions are expected to exceed $4 billion.
Of the businesses surveyed in the study, half of them reported having plans to implement their marketing strategy with mobile devices. Based on the statistics laid out by Borrell, it seems as though the percentage of businesses following the mobile marketing trend will grow exponentially in years to come.
