The National Indian Education Association announced a contest to determine a new logo for the group's publicity materials and promotional products, according to an article published Tuesday.

This contest comes in preparation for the October 2012 NIEA conference in Oklahoma City, the Native American Times reported. The conference's local planning committee will choose the image that best combines Oklahoma tribal cultures with the themes of education and technology. The winning artist will receive a $750 reward, as well as an invitation to the NIEA 2012 honor banquet.

The NIEA was incorporated in 1970 to advocate for American Indian, Alaska Native and Hawaiian Native teachers and students. It is the nation's oldest nonprofit dedicated to native education issues.

Each year, thousands of nonprofits, businesses and government organizations use promotional products such as logo pens and custom calendars to promote events and raise public awareness. Promotional products often play a key role in preparations for conferences, trade shows and other events as organizers try to draw new visitors, and during events as promoters attract foot traffic to their booths.ADNFCR-2478-ID-19534741-ADNFCR
