The city of Sparks, Nevada will use promotional products to revamp its image as a hotspot for business and tourism, according to a report published Monday.
This week, the city revealed a new logo that features the city's name and will appear prominently on city cars, letterhead, signs and promotional products, according to the Reno Gazette-Journal.
City council members arrived at their plan after consulting with a branding team made up of local business owners, and after surveying several thousand city residents for their view on the new logo and marketing strategy.
Officials are currently testing the new design on a number of road signs to ensure visibility by motorists.
In pursuing this new marketing strategy, the city of Sparks is following the lead of many businesses, nonprofit groups and government agencies that have chosen to make promotional products a central part of their branding and public relations campaigns. Many enterprises choose to give away promotional pens, custom mugs and other items imbued with their logos because of the positive impact they have on clients, customers and other members of the public.
