Promotional products such as custom calendars and logo pens can be highly effective marketing tools because people genuinely enjoy receiving them, according to a recent study.

Eighty-three percent of Americans actually enjoy receiving promotional products, and 48 percent would like to receive promotional products more often, a MarketTools study commissioned by the Promotional Products Association International found. In addition, 38 percent of respondents said that the items served as a constant reminder of advertisers.

"Consumers are inundated with advertising messages and the challenge for businesses is [to] find a way to cut through the clutter and to not only reach their target audience, but to resonate with them," researchers wrote.

When researchers asked survey subjects to remember a specific promotional product they had received within the past two years, along with the advertiser and its specific message, 76.2 percent of respondents were able to recall all three items.

As the number of internet, broadcast and mobile advertising mediums available to marketers increases, a number of firms may choose to distinguish themselves by offering custom promotional products. Custom calendars, logo pens and other promotional products all help to establish personal relationships with customer and appeal to a wide range of potential clients.
